Much-loved blackcurrant fruit drink Ribena, which is made in the Forest of Dean, has fallen short in a new health survey.
Tests showed that a 500ml bottle contains 215 calories, no fat but a whopping 52.6g of sugar. That's the sugar equivalent of 13 Oreo chocolate biscuits, according to a new study done for the Daily Mail.
The sugar amount equates to 60 per cent of a person's recommend daily intake.
But its Coleford-based manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline hit back by saying: "Ribena offers people a choice of products including no added sugar options.
